Om swastyastu all, On August 17, 1972, Indonesia's independence day,
President Soeharto announced that certain official orthographic
changes would be made for Indonesian. The official booklet issued as a
guide by the Indonesian Ministry of Education authorizes following
major changes :
1. Ch to kh, dj to j, j to y, nj to ny, sj to sy, tj to c.
2. The superscript2 is no longer acceptable in standard usage.
Duplicated words must be written out. Thus, "hati2" becomes "
hati-hati ".
3. Nouns preceded by " di " may not be written together. Thus, "
dikota " becomes "di kota ".
