Hortatory exposition
Hy all, om swastyastu. The purpose of hortatory exposition is to
persuade the reader or the listener that something should or should
not be the care.
Language features used are :
1. Emotive words, such as : alarmed, worried
2. Words that qualify statements, such as : usual, probably
3. Words that link arguments, such as : firstly, however, on the other
hand, therefore.
4. Compound and complex sentences
5. Modal verbs / adverbs : can, may, centainly, get, stop
6. Subjective opinion using pronouns : i and we
7. Simple present tense
Hortatory expositi6n usually focuses on generic human and non-human
participants, except for speaker or writer referring to self. We can
find hortatory exposition in letters to the editor, plead in a trial
